Technical Manager (Clitheroe)

About the Role & Company

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join our team at our Farmhouse Fare manufacturing site in Clitheroe. This is a fully onsite position, offering the opportunity to play a key leadership role within a fast-paced food production environment.

As Technical Manager, you will be accountable for all aspects of food safety, quality, and compliance, ensuring products meet legal standards and exceed customer expectations. You will lead the Technical function on site, act as the main point of contact for customers and auditors, and support operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety & Quality

  • Lead the HACCP team and ensure all documentation is current and effective
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System
  • Ensure compliance with BRC Global Standard for Food Safety
  • Manage allergen controls and ensure legal compliance across all production

Hygiene & Standards

  • Lead and develop the site hygiene team
  • Maintain exceptional hygiene and housekeeping standards
  • Manage hygiene budgets and supplier relationships

Customer & Audit Management

  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers, auditors, and regulatory bodies
  • Lead customer audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Attend customer meetings and product tastings

Continuous Improvement & Projects

  • Support CI and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
  • Lead product quality improvement projects
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, NPD, and senior leadership

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Technical/QA team
  • Manage recruitment, performance, and training
  • Drive a culture of accountability, development, and high performance

Systems & Budget Management

  • Manage the Technical department budget
  • Maintain systems such as Hamilton Grant and Qadex
  • Support wider group financial and operational objectives

About You

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Food Science (or related discipline)
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong background in chilled food manufacturing

Working Conditions

  • Based onsite at our Clitheroe factory (this is not a remote role)
  • Occasional travel to other sites, suppliers, and customers
  • Some overnight stays may be required
